Buying for a reader
Reading is private, so personal gifts suit it: a book you have both read, a hand-written dedication or a shelf for the piles.
Skip anything that sets a reading target.
Buying for your brother
A brother is often hard to buy for because he says he needs nothing. Use what you know: a hobby, a game you played as kids, a team he supports.
A joke gift with a real one underneath works well.
If you are shopping at the last minute
Bookshop gift cards and a personalized game can be arranged online the same day. An oin game is usually emailed within an hour of payment. Pair one with a handwritten note about the year ahead.
New Year is about what comes next, so tie the gift to a plan: a trip, a class, a habit you will start together.
What should I get my brother who loves books for New Year?
A bookshop gift card, a book subscription box or a special edition all work. For a personal touch, add a personalized pixel game with an appreciation letter.
What is a unique New Year gift for my brother that is not just another object?
A playable gift: a small game where he is the hero, with a letter from you at the start and a closing one at the end that looks ahead. It gives him a memory instead of another object. A story about the two of you makes a good companion to a shelf of novels.
Can I send my brother a gift online at the last minute?
Yes. Bookshop gift cards and digital gifts can be sent in minutes. An oin game is generated automatically after payment and usually emailed within an hour.
