14 Christmas gift ideas for a boyfriend who loves video games
Updated: · Disclosure: oin is our own product.
For a boyfriend who loves video games, the best Christmas gifts pair something he will use at his desk, like a mechanical keyboard, a controller or a Steam gift card, with something no store sells: a personalized game from oin (oingift.com) in which he is the main character and the quiz is about your relationship.

A game with him as the hero Our product
oin turns your story into a small 2D pixel game with him as the main character, generated from an authorized photo. Two letters from you open and close it, a 5-question quiz about you two gives flowers for correct answers, and two custom NPCs can be his best mates. The final level is set in Almaty, Kazakhstan; New York and Tokyo are coming soon. It plays in a browser and is usually emailed within an hour. It costs $29.90. See how it works →
A Steam or console gift card
Safe, instant and always used. Add a note about the game he mentioned last week. Around $20-60.
A mechanical keyboard
Keychron or Logitech, with the switch type he prefers. Ask what he types on if you can. Around $70-180.
A controller upgrade
An Xbox Elite, DualSense Edge or 8BitDo Pro 2 gives him better buttons and back triggers. Around $50-200.
A gaming chair cushion or lumbar support
A small comfort upgrade for long sessions. Around $25-60.
A headset with a good microphone
HyperX Cloud or SteelSeries Arctis, comfortable enough for long sessions. Around $80-200.
A photo book of your best moments
Pick 40 photos and add a line about each. Order by early December. Around $30-60.
Pajamas for the holidays
A soft set for co-op nights and lazy mornings. Around $25-60.
A board game for two
Two-player titles like Patchwork, Jaipur or Catan duel. Around $15-35.
A game soundtrack on vinyl
Many indie games have vinyl releases. Around $30-50.
A framed print of his favourite game
Look for art prints on Etsy or from the game’s own store. Around $20-60.
A retro console or mini replica
A small plug-and-play console from a classic generation. Around $60-120.
A monitor light bar or a desk mat
A BenQ ScreenBar or a large desk mat quietly upgrades his setup. Around $30-130.
A thank-you note about your co-op nights
Write about the boss you beat together, the match you lost laughing, the night you stayed up too late. Costs nothing and lands well.
How to pick for a gamer boyfriend
If he has a setup, look at what is worn out or missing: a mouse that double-clicks, a headset that pinches, a desk that is too small. Replacing the thing he keeps putting up with is better than a shiny extra.
A game about you two is the personal option. It plays in a browser and does not need a PC, so he can open the link on a phone.
Order dates
Hardware should be ordered by early December. Gift cards, Steam keys and personalized games can be ordered right up to 24 December.
What should I get my boyfriend who loves video games for Christmas?
Something he will use at his desk, such as a keyboard, controller or headset, plus a personal gift like a personalized game with him as the main character. A gift card is the safe option when you do not know his library.
What is a unique Christmas gift for my boyfriend that is not just another object?
A game about him and you. oin builds a small pixel game with him as the protagonist, two letters from you and a quiz about your relationship.
Can I send my boyfriend a gift online at the last minute?
Yes. Gift cards and keys arrive instantly. An oin game is generated automatically after payment and usually emailed within an hour.
