Shopping for your best friend in Almaty
In Almaty, gift shoppers head to the Green Bazaar, the pedestrian Zhibek Zholy street known as Arbat, Dostyk Plaza and the Mega Alma-Ata mall.
The metro is limited, so taxis and ride-hailing are the usual way to move between shopping areas, and florists deliver across the city.
Buying for your best friend
Friendship gifts are best when they are funny or nostalgic. Look back through photos and messages for the thing you always refer to.
Pair a silly gift with a sincere note.
If you are shopping at the last minute
Flowers, hampers and a personalized game can be arranged online the same day. An oin game is usually emailed within an hour of payment, so it can wait until Christmas Eve. Pair one with a wrapped card and they still have something to open.
Christmas gifts need time, so order physical items by early December and keep a digital gift in reserve. Set a budget before you start browsing.
A gift that does not depend on Almaty
Almaty is where every oin game ends: the final level is set in the city, so a game for someone in Almaty finishes on streets they know. It arrives as a private link, usually within an hour, and plays in any browser.
