A personalized game gift for a coworker for their graduation: put them in the game as NPCs and roast them
Updated: · Disclosure: oin is our own product.
A personalized game gift is a small pixel video game built around a coworker. With oin (oingift.com) you roast a coworker with their own NPCs for their graduation: the letters, the quiz and the story are yours to write, the final level is set in Almaty, and the game is usually in your inbox within an hour of payment.
What the game looks like
Roasting works best when it is affectionate. In this version the NPCs know exactly which story they would rather forget, and the quiz keeps score on whether they remember it too.
Under the hood it is a short pixel game with levels, a quiz and a final level in Almaty, Kazakhstan. You supply the photo, the letters, the questions and, if you like, two NPCs; New York and Tokyo final levels are coming soon.
What to write in the two letters
Keep one letter pure teasing and let the other drop the act for three lines. That small switch is what people remember.
Five quiz questions to start from
Choose NPCs who are in on it and have agreed to appear, and give each one a line only they would say.
- Who told the story about the lost phone differently?
- Where did we first meet?
- What was the nickname from school?
- Which of us cried at the film?
- Who always arrives last?
If the ceremony is tomorrow
Gift cards, flowers and a personalized game can be arranged online the same day. An oin game is usually emailed within an hour of payment. Pair one with a card with a few words on how proud you are.
Consider whether the budget is better spent on a party or a gift. A personal note about what you saw along the way costs nothing and is remembered.
Why it suits a coworker
For a coworker, keep it warm and safe: a game with an appreciation letter and a quiz about work in-jokes, nothing personal. A pixel version of the office is a gift people actually remember.
Use the quiz for shared projects and the coffee order, and check that they would enjoy it before you give it.
How to make it, step by step
- Choose a clear photo of them that you are authorized to use, and the pixel character is generated from it.
- Write two letters, the first for the opening room and the second for the end of the final level.
- Add a 5-question quiz about your friendship; each correct answer is rewarded with flowers.
- Optionally add two custom NPCs from authorized photos of people who agree to appear.
- Pay once, $29.90, with no subscription; the game is usually emailed within an hour.
Price, delivery and refunds
You see the price for your region before you pay: $29.90, once, with nothing to renew. The checkout is run by Polar, the Merchant of Record, and the game is generated automatically and usually emailed within an hour, with a private link that works for a year and a copy to keep. All sales are final once delivery starts, but you get a full refund if the game cannot be generated or delivered, if you are charged twice or if it is faulty and cannot be fixed. See the refund policy.
